About the Artist

Jay Sharpe

Jay Sharpe is a multi-disciplinary artist and master jeweler whose work transcends traditional boundaries, merging fine art with wearable artistry. His creative journey is fueled by a relentless pursuit of precision and innovation, allowing him to seamlessly navigate diverse mediums. From intricate paintings in ink, graphite, acrylics, and watercolors to meticulously crafted jewelry designs, Sharpe’s work reflects a harmonious balance between fluid creativity and exacting craftsmanship. Each creation tells a story—whether on canvas or in metal—designed to engage, inspire, and challenge perceptions.

As a jeweler, Sharpe applies the same artistic rigor to his handcrafted designs, where every piece begins as a meticulously sketched concept before evolving into a finely crafted accessory. His signature techniques—ranging from forging to crimping—impart each design with a distinct personality, ensuring that his jewelry is not just an adornment but a statement of individuality. This philosophy has attracted a discerning clientele, including celebrities like Jasmine Guy from A Different World, Epatha Merkerson from Law and Order, and Angela Poissant, from Dateline, who have all embraced his sophisticated, contemporary designs.

After earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art from Virginia Commonwealth University, Sharpe’s talent was quickly recognized. He was commissioned by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and launched his own signature jewelry line, which gained national attention and was carried by prestigious retailers such as Nordstrom, Henri Bendel, the American Craft Museum Gift Shop, and Frances Khan. His commitment to quality and timeless craftsmanship ensures that each piece not only enhances the wearer but also resonates with the evolving spirit of modern fashion.

Whether painting or designing jewelry, Sharpe’s philosophy remains the same: art should solve problems, tell stories, and enhance the human experience. His work is a testament to the limitless potential of creative expression, inviting collectors and wearers alike to partake in a journey of discovery and transformation.
